Reset and revitalise: weekend in rural France
5 - 8 JUNE 2020
Celebrate the arrival of summer with a soothing weekend in idyllic southwest France
Think yoga with a view, delicious healthy food and doing as much or as little as you like: a total escape from the pace of modern life. We’ll spend the weekend in a beautiful converted barn surrounded by the rolling French countryside. If you want some time to switch off, relax and develop your yoga practice under the watchful eye of a highly trained and experienced teacher this is the weekend for you!
We'll practice yoga morning and evening. Start your day with an energising but mindful vinyasa flow on our stunning yoga deck with endless views of the surrounding valley. You'll set yourself up for the day ahead by moving in time with your breath, and strengthening and stretching all your major muscle groups. With class numbers strictly limited to 9 people there will be ample opportunity for personal attention, and to deepen your practice by learning how to adapt the postures to best suit the needs of your own body. Each evening we'll wind down with a calming and grounding practice drawing on yin and restorative styles of yoga, rounded off with a guided relaxation. You'll float out of our evening sessions feeling relaxed, renewed and restored. In addition, we will also practice some simple meditation and breathing techniques that are perfect for keeping the relaxed vibe going even after you get back home to real life. Our yoga deck is fully equipped with mats, straps, bricks and bolsters (and can be made rain proof in the event of bad weather!).
After working up an appetite on your mat each morning we’ll feast on a plentiful brunch. Think seasonal fruit, oats and cereals, delicious local French breads, salads, yoghurts, eggs from local hens, plus juices, teas and coffees.
Each evening expect a mouth-watering home cooked dinner and dessert - think hearty soups and curries, salads, fragrant herbs and healthy grains. Our experienced chef will use organic produce sourced as locally as possible for each of our meals. We’ll also have a constant supply of teas, coffee, fruits, bread and yoghurts available for any time you’d like a snack. All meals will be vegetarian.
We’ll stay in an ancient stone barn, which has been lovingly renovated into a spacious dwelling for 10 people. This beautiful house is rustic and comfortable: your home away from home. Curl up with a book in our cosy living room or choose to explore our grounds and the peaceful wider countryside.
Our property has a covered terrace for al fresco dining, which is surrounded by beautifully tended lawns and herb gardens. Our spacious pool terrace boasts a 12m x 6m swimming pool with stunning views of the valley below. Explore our grounds further to find hammocks and secluded sunny spots perfect for relaxing in, fruit tree orchards and terraced vegetable gardens.
We will spend the weekend in sleepy Sainte Foy: an extremely old hamlet consisting of around 12 houses and several barns. Exploring the hamlet you’ll come across several ancient well houses and traditional bread ovens. The local chapel dates from the 1100s and was built using the same marvellously crafted stone as the rest of the hamlet. Our venue sits at the end of the hamlet, overlooking the valley and surrounding hills.
Our hamlet is in the beautiful Lot area of south western France. The Lot is home to dramatic clifftop villages, rolling hills and endless peaceful green vistas. It has been a wine growing area since Roman times. Our venue is located about one hour away from Bergerac, and one hour 20 minutes away from Toulouse and Bordeaux.
This is your weekend away so how much or how little you do is completely up to you. You are positively encouraged to just sit and admire the views from a hammock in our garden, take some alone time as you stroll through the countryside or curl up for a nap in one of our home’s cosy chairs.
Or, if you’re feeling more energetic, we have the following available on site: table tennis, boules, badminton, volleyball, slacklining and swimming in our beautiful pool. Also, the countryside around our hamlet is peaceful, beautiful and perfect for walking in.
Alternatively, choose to treat yourself to reflexology or an ayurvedic massage (our therapists will come to you on site), or in the surrounding area there is horse riding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, bike hire and wine tasting all available.

Can I come on my own?
Absolutely, lots of guests on each of our retreats arrive independently. There is always a warm and welcoming atmosphere with communal activities available, plus ample opportunity for you to take some quiet time for yourself too.
Is it all group activities or can I take some quiet me time?
We will eat our meals together and people often group together to go on trips, take a walk or just have a chat. But everyone is also positively encouraged to take time to themselves to read, take a stroll through the stunning scenery, go on a solo adventure or just nap in their room.
How many people will there be in class?
Numbers will be limited to a maximum of 9 people, so lots of opportunity for individual attention.
I have a question - is there someone I can speak to?
Of course! You can message Olivia directly here with any questions you might have.
What if I reserve a place then can't make it?
Your deposit is non-refundable. But if your circumstances change and you cannot make the retreat in June 2020, we will accept someone else attending in your place - just let us know who!
What have other people thought of your retreats?
“I had a brilliant week away (oooh it’s been so hard to adjust coming back!). Having been on my share of retreats now I can say yours has pretty much been the most laid back one I’ve done so far (not that the others were anything crazy) and I think that was purely down to your very relaxed and no pressure attitude. Loved the yoga and the additional sessions were fun to do, regardless of ability etc. There was a good mix of free time and organised stuff, and the walks were a really nice surprise and a good thing to do during the day. The mix of people worked well too!”

“I thought the yoga was great, the food was delicious, my room and the villa was absolutely delightful, and the company was lovely. Thank you for organising such a lovely week! It was much needed, massively relaxing, and I learnt loads too, as well as it being tons of fun.”
